Finding Your True Passion - What Makes Your Heart Sing

Passion will not develop on its own, like a seed you throw in the ground and expect to develop into a beautiful rose. One must discover their passion-- something that stirs within, a small desire; an inspirational thought or song. Recognizing your passion, that inner spark God has placed in your heart, is what gets you out of bed in the morning.

A lifetime of searching won't show you what is already in your heart. You must search your soul and ask God to show you what you already know to be true. You might start with asking yourself a few basic questions:

1) What is it that gives you the most joy?
2) What would you not want to live without?
3) When you wake up in the morning, what is the first thing on your mind?

When you find your passion, you want nothing more than to know all about it. You begin having a strong desire to nurture, develop, and feed it in order to see it grow. It becomes your "passion"! God's Word tells us, "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman who needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."- 2 Timothy 2:15

After your passion is developed, you are ready to cultivate and share with others. Passion gets you up in the morning-- passion is contagious to others because they want what you have. My Passion is for Christ! "...being confident of this very thing, that He who hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the Day of Jesus Christ." -- Philippians 1:6

There is so much work to be done in our cities, in our nation and in our world. Let us focus on "keep on keeping on" with the work at hand! "The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be."

I leave you today with one of my favorite songs, Chris Tomlin's "God of This City". I hope you take a few minutes to listen to the song because it is everything I have tried to say here, It Is My Passion! Until next time...
